Faced
with climate change and other environmental threats, Ardent
Office Solutions have devised a programme to monitor, implement,
control and reduce the impact of its operations on the environment.
We are committed to managing our environmental responsibilities
and are fully compliant with UK, Republic of Ireland and EU
regulations where applicable.
We assess and effectively manage the environmental impacts
of our daily operations, reacting to any negative impact the
business may be having on the environment with immediate effect
and where possible reversing such impact.
We exercise product stewardship in conjunction with our suppliers,
in an approach to environmental protection. It calls on those
in the product lifecycle especially manufacturers and suppliers
to share responsibility for reducing the environmental impact
of products.
Ardent Office Solutions recognises that our suppliers and
manufacturers can and must take on new responsibilities to
reduce the environmental footprint of their products and will
work with such organisations that take on and prove such responsibilities.
Ardent Office Solutions also manages its product range to
ensure that products do not cause unacceptable environmental
damage through its receipt, storage, and use or disposal phases.
Planned prevention or reduction of pollution is cheaper than
rectifying after the event. In the UK we dispose of around
20 million tonnes of refuse each year, 90% of this ends up
in landfill sites. We use approximately 750,000 tonnes of
office paper and only 10% of this is recycled. It therefore
makes sense to minimise waste and pollution to reduce long
term costs, e.g. using recycled stationery and toner cartridges.
Our policy begins with a consideration of the impact of the
company’s activities on both the local and wider communities
and will take account of transportation of raw materials,
use of energy, distribution of finished product and discharge
of emissions and wastes.
- Minimise disturbance to the local and
global environment and to the quality of life of the local
communities;
- Comply with all relevant statutory regulation;
- Maintain appearances and highest environmental
standards within the Company premises;
- Take positive steps to conserve scarce
and non-renewable resources;
- Assess, in advance if possible, environmental
effects of new processes and developments;
- Provide necessary information to enable
proper use, storage and disposal of company products to
avoid harm to the environment;
- Provide necessary information to
enable employees to operate processes properly and minimise
effects on man and the environment;
